Recommendations for orthodontics
1.
Hospital selection for orthodontics
should be carefully considered.
In orthodontics, initial treatment planning is
important and it takes a long time to
complete the treatment therefore
you should choose a hospital and dentist
that you can trust.
It is possible to find qualified orthodontists
through Korean Society of orthodontics.
2.
It is important to get enough consultation
before treatment
Since the treatment method may vary
depending on the patient's condition,
it is important to have adequate consultation
on the treatment period, cost of treatment,
refunds due to discontinuation of treatment,
and so on and the side effects or complications
that may arise from the treatment
must be explained.
3.
Follow-up after treatment is mandatory
After beginning the orthodontic treatment,
changes in the teeth condition should be
observed at intervals of 4 to 6 weeks,
and additional treatment may be required
accordingly.
4.
It is important to handle the risk early
when an abnormal symptom occurs.
If you experience symptoms such as
bruxism, pain, swelling, and jaw joint
problems during your orthodontic treatment,
you may need to visit the dentist and take
appropriate action early on, as it may affect
your overall orthodontic treatment.
It is advisable to see and judge
the effectiveness of the treatment over the long
term
Orthodontic treatment usually takes 18 to
30 months, and the duration of the treatment
may vary depending on the patient's dental
condition and oral care habits, the treatment
should not be discontinued due to short-term
effects.
