Oral health, do you maintain it well?

Learn about causes of periodontal

disease

As we age, we would realize

the importance of teeth and regret

having poor oral care of the past.

As many people already know,

once teeth are damaged, it would be

hard to restore, therefore proper and

thorough oral care is a key to maintain

oral hygiene from childhood.

Periodontal disease, tooth conservation

is the only answer.

Periodontal disease is thought as a

disease of middle-aged, but the majority

of patients with periodontal disease are

getting younger, thus we should

preserve oral health to prevent gum

disease. The reason why periodontitis

occurs rapidly at a younger age is

because of changed life patterns,

poor oral hygiene, irregular eating

habits, etc.

Stress can cause problems with mouth,

teeth and gums since a long-lasting

stress decreases the rate of saliva which

helps remove bacteria and makes

environment where bacteria can grow.

If you’re stressed out constantly,

plaque which is the main cause of

periodontal disease will increase.

If you have bad breath, bleeding and

swollen gums, you need to be suspicious

of periodontal disease which can result in

a variety of different symptoms such as

sensitive teeth to cold and hot, tickling

sensation in gums, pain after eating, etc…

If you put off dental treatment for

periodontal disease which is processing

because there are no symptoms or pain,

the supporting bone around teeth may

become weak and teeth may be wobbly.

Therefore, a dental check-up every

six months is necessary to identify initial

symptoms and treat the disease.

Periodontal disease should be prevented

by properly brushing the outside, inside

and chewing surface of each tooth.

Also a piece of food trapped between

your teeth should be removed with dental

floss or interdental brush before

it becomes plaque.
